Tips for College Students When It Comes to Oral Health

Being a college student comes with a lot of new responsibilities. Oftentimes, college students are too busy to think much about their oral health. Not paying enough attention to the oral health could have severe consequences down the road. It is important for college students to follow these tips to be proactive about their oral health during their college years.

Tips For College Students

Our first tip is to brush your teeth at least twice a day for two minutes per session. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and gently brush your gums and tongue as well. After brushing your teeth in the evening, floss your teeth as well. Flossing your teeth will clean the surfaces between your teeth and possibly prevent infection.

Our second tip is to eat well during your college years. Choose your sweet treats carefully. It can be tempting to sample the desserts in the cafeteria without your parents looking over your shoulder. Make good choices to benefit your body during these years and choose to eat healthy foods. These good choices will turn into lifelong habits that can benefit your teeth as well as your overall health for a long time.

Our last tip is to make an appointment with our office if you think your wisdom teeth may be erupting. These are critical years as the wisdom teeth come in, and it is important to know if the wisdom teeth are coming in properly.
